Homosexuality and Christianity are Compatible
The majority of Christians view the Bible as a text which informs our modern life through its rich use of symbolism. We look to the broader themes in the Bible, as well as viewing individual passages within their context.
As this relates to homosexuality, many Christian faith traditions do not believe homosexuality is a sin, and many Bible scholars do not feel that the Bible condemnds homosexuality, or at least, not the modern day version of a committed, loving, same-sex relationship. Often passages condemning homosexuality are taken out of context, where the broader message may be a condemnation of adultery, whether homosexual or heterosexual. In other passages, homosexuality is mentioned as a sin along with a list of other acts we don't currently consider to be sins, like growing a beard and eating snails. We must view the Bible in the context of modern society. What is unfortunate is that people will pick and choose which sins the Bible condemns, at the expense of decent, moral, gay people. Decidedly un-Christian.

[THUMBUP][THUMBUP]Not all of them do, unfortunately, the ones with the politicians (who want to get large groupings of people and seeing churches and wedge issues such as this as a route to get them without directly violating separations of church and state) and with the money are the ones who have the loudest and most influencial voice.

It really bothers me to see the Bible used as a weapon of hate. There are so many people who, instead of reading it in the context in which it was written, take the Bible and twist it to suit their own purposes. I find this to be so sad, because I just can't believe that God would condone hate.

christian traditions, Bible scholars can be wrong---but the WORD OF GOD will never be wrong aNd stands forever. It is the TRUTH no matter what people think and believe.
